Report: Former Buffalo Bills CB to meet with Miami Dolphins and Atlanta Falcons

It has been a rocky offseason for the Miami Dolphins so far, but they still have time to right the ship, and one player they seem to have their eyes on is former Buffalo Bills veteran Siran Neal.

The Dolphins will reportedly meet with Neal on Tuesday night. The free agent will also reportedly meet with the Atlanta Falcons on Wednesday night.

Neal, who was a fifth-round pick in 2018, has never played for a team other than the Bills in the NFL, but he was recently released by Buffalo, opening the door for him to start a new chapter in his career.

In six years with the Bills, Neal only started one game on defense (across 97 total appearances in the regular season). But he did get considerable playing time on special teams, so he’s capable of adding value in more ways than one.

On defense, the 29-year-old has made 115 combined tackles in his career. He has also forced three fumbles and recovered two.

The Dolphins have lost defenders like Andrew Van Ginkel, Christian Wilkins, Jerome Baker, Xavien Howard and Brandon Jones this offseason, so they may be willing to take all the help they can get on that side of the ball.

With all of the players Miami has lost, there has been some talk about what to expect from the Dolphins on the field this coming season. The squad didn’t have enough to earn a playoff win in either of the last two seasons, and given how its offseason has gone so far, Miami could be facing an uphill battle in the 2024 campaign in terms of trying to take a step forward.

But the offseason is still young, and Dolphins general manager Chris Grier has been known to have a trick or two up his sleeve at times.

A deal for Neal certainly wouldn’t be the flashiest move ever, but it could go down as an impactful signing, especially since he has familiarity with the AFC East and the Bills. Buffalo, of course, figures to be a major factor in the race for the division this coming season, so perhaps he’d be able to give the Dolphins some inside info on his former team.
