Potential L’Jarius Sneed pursuit by Miami Dolphins gets eye-catching update

According to an NFL insider, the Miami Dolphins could pursue L’Jarius Sneed of the Kansas City Chiefs to pair with Jalen Ramsey.

“They have gone all-in with splash trades, and now the bill has come due,” wrote Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. “GM Chris Grier is always good for a sizable move or two. What about pairing Jalen Ramsey with a corner like L’Jarius Sneed? I believe Miami has at least looked into it.”

The team has an opening at the position after letting Xavien Howard go following eight years of partnership in order to create some cap space.

Miami was apparently willing to negotiate with the 30-year-old for a possible return to the only NFL organization he has played for so far. However, Howard shut the door on that possibility.

As such, the Dolphins could be looking to the trade market, draft or free agency to replace Howard.

Sneed appears to be an interesting choice, especially after he played a key role in the Chiefs’ Super Bowl runs in the past two seasons.

In Super Bowl LVII, he recorded seven combined tackles and a team-high two passes defended against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The following year saw the 27-year-old cornerback help ensure Kansas City’s return to the championship stage. At the start of the fourth quarter of the AFC Championship Game, he punched the football out of Zay Flowers’ hands, preventing the Baltimore Ravens wide receiver from scoring a touchdown.

Sneed tallied three combined tackles and one pass defended to help the Chiefs secure a comeback victory over the San Francisco 49ers in this year’s Super Bowl.

The reigning champions recently placed the franchise tag on their former fourth-round pick. However, he may not stay on the roster for long, as he has reportedly been given permission to seek a trade. Seven teams have already apparently showed interest in him. So, the Dolphins could have plenty of competition if they decide to join the Sneed sweepstakes.

Exploring the possibility of acquiring a player from Kansas City could be in Miami’s best interests. After all, it landed a gem in Tyreek Hill when the organization acquired him from the Chiefs in 2022.
