Miami Dolphins list previously unreported changes to coaching staff

The Miami Dolphins have several coaching updates that have been released on the team’s website.

The Dolphins have kept defensive coach Ryan Slowik on the staff, but he has a new title (defensive backs/pass game specialist).

Slowik joined the Dolphins staff in 2022 as a senior defensive assistant. He was promoted to outside linebackers coach in 2023, but the team has brought in Ryan Crow to hold that position for the 2024 season.

That led to Slowik being moved to a new role.

Miami has also brought Parks Frazier onto the coaching staff as an offensive assistant. He was the pass game coordinator for the Carolina Panthers last season.

The Dolphins have also promoted Mathieu Araujo, who was previously the team’s assistant defensive backs coach, to cornerbacks coach. One of the coaches that the team hired this offseason – former NFL defensive back and Seattle Seahawks coach DeShawn Shead – is listed as the team’s assistant defensive backs coach.

In addition, four coaches that spent last season at the college ranks have been added to Miami’s staff.

Jonathan Krause, who was the wide receivers coach at San Diego State University, is listed on the staff as an offensive assistant.

On the defensive side of the ball, the team has added former Louisiana State University senior defensive analyst Kynjee Cotton to the staff as a defensive assistant.

The team also has added former University of Hawaii offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Roman Sapolu to the staff as an offensive assistant.

Mike McDaniel and the Dolphins appear to be getting a bunch of new voices in the building. That could help the team come up with some new ideas on the offensive side of the ball for a unit that was one of the best in the NFL last season.

Plus, the team has added a defensive assistant with a connection to new defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver. Matthew O’Donnell, who was an assistant at Brown University, is reuniting with Weaver. The two coached together on the Houston Texans.

All four coaches now have big chances to make names for themselves at the NFL level.

After falling short of a division title and losing in the first round of the playoffs last season, Miami is clearly looking to get some new perspectives ahead of the 2024 season.

Hopefully, these new coaches can make impacts and help the team get past the first round of the postseason in the 2024 campaign.
