Colin Cowherd thinks Miami Dolphins will miss 2025 NFL Playoffs

Colin Cowherd has been a Miami Dolphins skeptic for some time now, and the sports talk host is now saying that they will not make a third consecutive playoff appearance in the 2024 NFL season.

Cowherd left the Dolphins out of his predicted playoff field for this upcoming season, adding newcomers like the Cincinnati Bengals, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars and Los Angeles Chargers to the AFC field with repeaters in the Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens and defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.

He also is leaving out the Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans and Pittsburgh Steelers, who each made the playoffs this past season.

The host said the Bills will repeat as AFC East champions, which would be their fifth straight division title. The Dolphins have not won the division since the 2008 NFL season, which was their first title since the 2000 campaign.

This past season, Miami was in a very good position to win the AFC East but lost its final two games of the regular season, including the finale to the Bills in the game that decided the division title. The Dolphins then faced the Chiefs on the road in the first round of the playoffs and were defeated in one of the coldest games in NFL history.

Superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill said the Dolphins have run out of excuses for their playoff failures and need to play well if they get back there.

That disappointing recent history may have had an influence on Cowherd’s predictions for next season. However, he has previously used his program “The Herd” to disparage the Dolphins, comparing them to fake rich men that live in Miami.

But Cowherd did predict that the Dolphins would win the AFC East in the summer, basing it primarily on their addition of Vic Fangio. That of course did not come to fruition, and Fangio and the Dolphins parted ways after just one season.

Miami hired Anthony Weaver away from the Ravens to become the Dolphins’ new defensive coordinator. Whether that will be the move that helps them get their first playoff victory in more than 20 years will be interesting to watch.
