Andrew Van Ginkel’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, offered good news for the Miami Dolphins ahead of his free agency.

Van Ginkel has spent all five seasons of his NFL career with the Dolphins, who drafted him in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft following his college football career. While he didn’t receive a whole lot of playing time in his rookie season (just six games played during the 2019 regular season), he has been a fixture in Miami’s lineup for several seasons now, seeing as how he has appeared in 16-plus games for the Dolphins in each of the past four seasons.

Across 17 games played with the Dolphins during the 2023 regular season, he accumulated 69 combined tackles, 42 solo tackles, 27 assists on tackles, eight tackles for loss and 19 quarterback hits. He also recorded six sacks, eight passes defended and one interception.

The 28-year-old arguably had his best performance of the season in the Dolphins’ victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Christmas Eve. He finished with 10 combined tackles, three assists on tackles and 1.5 sacks in Miami’s two-point win.

Van Ginkel put together another impressive showing in Miami’s loss to the Buffalo Bills back on Oct. 1. He totaled five combined tackles and 2.0 sacks in the Dolphins’ first loss of the 2023 regular season.

The linebacker didn’t play in the Dolphins’ wild-card matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs due to a foot injury, however. Miami lost to the Chiefs on the road by a final score of 26-7 in what was one of the team’s worst offensive performances of the season.

Considering Van Ginkel was one of Miami’s most productive defensive players during the 2023 regular season and has been for quite some time, Dolphins fans should be excited by the good news that Rosenhaus offered ahead of Van Ginkel’s free agency.

Hopefully for the Dolphins, they will be able to sign him to a contract extension so that he will remain a member of the organization for the long haul.
