Speedy wide receiver issues immediate reaction to earning new opportunity with Miami Dolphins

Speedy wide receiver Anthony Schwartz issued a grateful reaction to earning a new opportunity with the Miami Dolphins organization.

Schwartz — a member of Miami’s practice squad during the 2023 season — will get a chance to show the Dolphins what he’s all about.

The 23-year-old is one of eight players and two wide receivers the Dolphins decided to sign to reserve/future contracts, as the team also did so with Braylon Sanders, who played in three games with Miami during the 2022 regular season and accumulated 17 receiving yards on two receptions.

Schwartz — who was drafted in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft — has seen game action in two NFL seasons, both as a member of the Cleveland Browns. In his most recent season, the 2022 season, he totaled 51 receiving yards on four receptions across 11 appearances with the Browns. He added a rushing touchdown along the way for his only score of the season.

He arguably played better during his rookie campaign, the 2021 season, when he finished with 135 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown on 10 catches.

Before being drafted, Schwartz spent three seasons playing college football at Auburn University. In his third and final season with the Tigers, the 2020 season, he played in 10 games and racked up 636 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns on 54 total receptions.

Schwartz will look to earn a role in a receiving room that’s led by one of the best wide receivers in the league in Tyreek Hill, who enjoyed arguably the best season of his career during the 2023 regular season. He suited up in 16 of the Dolphins’ 17 regular-season games and led the entire league in total receiving yards (1,799), receiving touchdowns (13) and receiving yards per game (112.4).

Hill also averaged 15.1 yards per reception and 7.4 receptions per game in his eighth season in the NFL and second as a member of the Dolphins franchise.

Hopefully, Schwartz will have an opportunity to contribute for the Dolphins in the 2024 season. After all, he had flashes of productive play during his time with the Browns, and since he’s only 23 years old, it’s possible that he still has his best seasons ahead of him.
