Report: Miami Dolphins make roster moves ahead of Dallas Cowboys game

The Miami Dolphins have made a set of roster moves ahead of their game against the Dallas Cowboys on Dec. 24. Miami has activated running back Chris Brooks off injured reserve and waived linebacker Jason Pierre-Paul.

Brooks has been sidelined for over two months now. He hasn’t taken the field for the Dolphins since the team’s matchup against the Carolina Panthers back on Oct. 15. The running back finished with 28 rushing yards on six carries in the team’s 21-point victory over Carolina, who owns a poor 2-12 record on the season.

The 23-year-old is in his first season in the NFL since going undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Pierre-Paul, meanwhile, didn’t get much of an opportunity to contribute during his time as a member of the Dolphins franchise. He appeared in just two games with the team during the 2023 regular season.

He is a bit long in the tooth at this stage of his NFL career, considering he is 34 years old and will turn 35 in January. But earlier in his career when he was a member of the New York Giants, Pierre-Paul was one of the better defensive ends in the NFL.

He made consecutive Pro Bowl appearances in the 2011 and 2012 seasons, both coming when he was with the Giants. Also, he finished fourth in the 2011 NFL AP Defensive Player of the Year voting. Terrell Suggs of the Baltimore Ravens, Jared Allen of the Minnesota Vikings and Justin Smith of the San Francisco 49ers were the only three players who finished with more votes than Pierre-Paul.

The Dolphins responded to their embarrassing loss against the Tennessee Titans back on Dec. 11 with a dominant performance versus the New York Jets on Dec. 17. Miami won by a final score of 30-0 to improve its record to 10-4, which is the best record in the AFC East division.

The team’s next regular-season game against the Cowboys projects to be a challenging matchup. After all, Dallas holds a 10-4 record just like the Dolphins.
