Report: Miami Dolphins list 9 players as questionable, 2 out for New York Jets game

The Miami Dolphins will be short-handed in their upcoming matchup against the New York Jets on Dec. 17. The Dolphins have nine players listed as questionable — including star wide receiver Tyreek Hill (ankle) and running back De’Von Achane (toe) — while two players in Robert Hunt (hamstring) and DeShon Elliott (concussion) have already been ruled out.

The other players listed as questionable are Terron Armstead (knee/ankle), Liam Eichenberg (calf), Jevon Holland (knees), Xavien Howard (hip), Austin Jackson (oblique), Chris Brooks (knee) and Andrew Van Ginkel (oblique).

Achane has had difficulty staying on the field for the Dolphins so far this season. The rookie running back has appeared in just seven of Miami’s 13 games so far during the 2023 regular season.

But he has played productive football for Miami when healthy. He has accumulated 581 rushing yards, seven rushing touchdowns and 21 first downs rushing. Plus, he is averaging an impressive 83.0 rushing yards per game.

Hill has also been one of the Dolphins’ top offensive players this season, but unlike Achane, he has managed to avoid the injury bug for the most part. He has appeared in every one of Miami’s 13 games and is leading the league in several receiving statistics, including receiving yards, receiving touchdowns and receiving yards per game.

Both Achane and Hill had forgettable showings in the team’s most recent game against the Tennessee Titans back on Dec. 11. The former finished with 47 rushing yards on seven carries, while the latter ended up with 61 receiving yards on four receptions.

Miami went on to lose to the Titans by one point to fall to 9-4 on the season. The defeat also marked the Dolphins’ first home loss of the season so far.

The Dolphins now own the second-best record in the entire AFC behind only the Baltimore Ravens, who are 10-3. The Ravens have won three games in a row and own a 5-2 home record and 5-1 road record.

Miami’s next game on its regular-season schedule after playing the Jets is a matchup against the Dallas Cowboys on Dec. 24. The Cowboys are one of the hottest teams in the NFL right now, as evidenced by their five-game winning streak.
