Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa showcased a special talent on Monday night during ESPN’s “ManningCast” of Monday Night Football between the Cincinnati Bengals and Jacksonville Jaguars.
Tagovailoa broke out a guitar, showcasing some impressive skills playing the instrument. That prompted a social media account to call for a collaboration between the Dolphins quarterback and American singer-songwriter and guitarist Darius Rucker.
Tagovailoa even had Peyton Manning attempting to sing to the music during the Monday Night Football matchup.
Rucker responded to the post on social media, claiming that he’d be “in” for a jam session with the Dolphins’ star quarterback.
Tagovailoa then returned the favor, seemingly agreeing with Rucker’s sentiment.
It’s pretty cool to see more of what Tagovailoa is like off of the football field, and he’s clearly a very talented person. Hopefully for Dolphins and music fans, Rucker and Tagovailoa can find a way to deliver on the collaboration in the offseason.
For now, Tagovailoa is focused on leading the Dolphins to the playoffs — and potentially the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
Miami picked up a huge win in Week 13 over the Washington Commanders, and the team is now the top team in the AFC with a 9-3 record after the Kansas City Chiefs lost to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football.
Miami has the same record as the Baltimore Ravens, and it also benefited from the Jaguars losing on Monday night to fall to 8-4.
Tagovailoa has been a huge reason for the Dolphins’ success this season, as he’s playing at an MVP-caliber level.
In 12 games, Tagovailoa has completed 70.1 percent of his passes (career-high mark) for 3,457 yards and 24 touchdowns. He has thrown 10 interceptions, but the Dolphins have still found ways to win plenty of games despite those turnovers.
Miami is hoping that Tagovailoa will keep playing at a high level as the playoffs approach. The former first-round pick was injured for the team’s lone playoff game last season, so there certainly has to be some motivation for him to be able to help the team in this season’s playoffs.
If Tagovailoa can lead the Dolphins to a Super Bowl title, he can celebrate that accomplishment with as many jam sessions as he’d like.
