Report: De’Von Achane set to return in Week 11 as Miami Dolphins open up roster spot

The Miami Dolphins reportedly have some help on the way in the form of De’Von Achane ahead of their Week 11 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The running back hasn’t played since Week 5 due to a knee injury. His return should help the Dolphins considerably on offense.

The Dolphins have also waived wide receiver Robbie Chosen, seemingly to make room for Achane. Chosen appeared in four games for the squad this season and only had one reception, but it was a memorable one — a 68-yard score in Week 3.

When available, Achane has been a phenomenal piece for the Dolphins this season. The rookie has 460 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns in just four games. He also has 67 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.

Miami’s offense has been electric this season, but the team has scored 17 points or fewer in two of its last three games. Achane’s return should give the Dolphins a shot in the arm on that side of the ball.

Averaging a whopping 12.1 yards per carry, the 22-year-old has been extremely efficient this season. It’s unrealistic to expect him to maintain that pace, but the Dolphins presumably have high hopes for the impact he’ll make once he’s back on the field.

Miami is 6-3 this season after losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9. The Week 11 matchup against the Raiders is very winnable, as the Dolphins are the overwhelming betting favorites. Las Vegas is 5-5 in the 2023 campaign.

If Achane returns to action in Week 11 and remains available for the rest of the regular season, he’ll have eight more games to add to his rookie resume before likely getting his first taste of the NFL postseason. He would certainly love nothing more than to help the Dolphins make a run at their first Super Bowl title in several decades.
