Tyreek Hill makes bold declaration ahead of Miami Dolphins Week 2 matchup vs. New England Patriots

Tyreek Hill said he has no doubt he can continue to produce tremendous results even if the Miami Dolphins wide receiver gets triple-teamed by the New England Patriots in their game on Sunday night.

“I’m still going to dominate that no matter what,” Hill said. “I still got a job to do, and that’s to run my routes. You put two guys on me, one guy on me, or three guys on me I’m still going to run my route to get open.”

Hill had an exceptional outing in Miami’s season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers last week, hauling in 11 receptions for 215 receiving yards with two touchdowns in the 36-34 victory.

The 29-year-old faced single coverage for a lot of the game, a strategy that has been questioned by some observers. It seems unlikely that Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, long known as a top defensive mind, would deploy the same tactics.

Hill has faced the Patriots six times in his NFL career and has made 36 receptions for 550 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Last season, his first with the Dolphins after six with the Kansas City Chiefs, he had eight catches for 94 receiving yards in the first game against the Patriots at Miami in September and four catches for 55 receiving yards in January at New England.

Prior to this season, the four-time All-Pro said he believes he could become the first player in NFL history to reach 2,000 receiving yards, and he is off to a very good start. His 215 receiving yards in Week 1 are the third most in a team’s season opener in NFL history and was the third 200-yard receiving day of his career.

It helped Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa reach 466 passing yards against the Chargers, the fourth most in a team’s first game of a season in league history.

There could be more success in store on Sunday night, with Tagovailoa taking a 4-0 record as a starter against Belichick into the contest. New England lost its opener to the Philadelphia Eagles 25-20 but held the Eagles to 154 passing yards, albeit in rainy conditions.

The Dolphins’ Week 1 showing drew a lot of attention, with Shannon Sharpe going as far as to say they are best team in the AFC. They will be looking to start 2-0 for a second straight season, and Hill likely will again play a major role if that is to happen.
