Terron Armstead inches closer to return for Miami Dolphins with latest step

Miami Dolphins star left tackle Terron Armstead has reportedly taken a massive step forward as he aims to return to the field. He participated in the team’s practice on Thursday wearing a regular helmet and jersey and appeared to be moving at full speed.

Armstead was selected with the No. 75 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft after playing college football at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. He helped lead the team to an excellent 10-2 record during his senior season, the 2012 season.

Armstead, 32, has played for two teams — the New Orleans Saints and Dolphins — across his 10 seasons in the NFL. He played 13 games for the Dolphins during the 2022 regular season (all starts) and earned a Pro Bowl appearance.

The 6-foot-5 left tackle spent the first nine seasons of his NFL career with the Saints before agreeing to a five-year deal with the Dolphins back in March of 2022.

Arguably Armstead’s best season in the NFL to this point came during the 2018 season when he was a member of the Saints. He appeared in 10 games with New Orleans during the regular season and earned the only All-Pro nod of his pro career.

Only time will tell when Armstead will return to the field for the Dolphins, but here’s to hoping that it’s sooner rather than later. Interestingly, the Dolphins thrived offensively in their Week 1 game against the Los Angeles Chargers without Armstead. They allowed the Chargers to score 34 points but managed to get the win by a final score of 36-34, thanks largely to standout performances from star wide receiver Tyreek Hill and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Hill finished with a whopping 215 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns in the Week 1 victory, while Tagovailoa contributed 466 passing yards and three passing touchdowns compared to only one interception. Additionally, Hill’s longest reception in the game was for 47 yards.

Armstead’s presence should give the Dolphins a major boost on the offensive end of the ball and make them even more lethal, seeing as he is one of the best left tackles in the NFL right now and has been for quite some time.
