Dez Bryant quickly backtracks after seemingly predicting that Tua Tagovailoa would be replaced next season

Former NFL wide receiver Dez Bryant emphatically apologized for predicting that University of Southern California quarterback Caleb Williams would end up with the Miami Dolphins.

Bryant made the prediction before Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season, but Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa did just about everything he could to show that Bryant’s prediction doesn’t make sense.

Tagovailoa, who is in his fourth season in the NFL, dominated on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers, leading the Dolphins to a 36-34 win.

The former first-round pick finished the day with 28 completions on his 45 passing attempts, 466 passing yards, three touchdowns and just one interception.

Following the performance, Bryant was prompted on Twitter to apologize for his prediction about Williams.

The former Dallas Cowboys star obliged, admitting that he was wrong with his idea.

The reason Bryant’s prediction is so disrespectful is because Williams – the reigning Heisman Trophy winner – is likely to be a top five pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

That means that the Dolphins would have either have to be one of the worst teams in the league this season, or the team would have to want to move on from Tagovailoa so bad that it would trade up in the 2024 NFL Draft to take Williams.

The USC quarterback is a great talent, but the Dolphins have to be pretty happy with the quarterback they have.

Last season, Miami went 8-5 in the 13 games that Tagovailoa started, and the University of Alabama product has really taken some strides in Mike McDaniel’s offense.

During the 2022 campaign, he threw for 3,548 yards, 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 13 games during the regular season. The addition of Tyreek Hill to the Miami roster has been huge for Tagovailoa as well.

In Week 1 against the Chargers, Tagovailoa found Hill for 11 receptions in the 15 times that he targeted him. Hill finished the game with 215 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He had a 35-yard score in the third quarter before catching the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth.

It’s nice to see Bryant and the rest of the NFL world see just how talented Tagovailoa is. Hopefully, the Dolphins quarterback can stay healthy and lead the team to another playoff berth in the 2023 season.
