Miami Dolphins announce important roster moves ahead of season opener vs. Los Angeles Chargers

On Monday — with their first game of the 2023 regular season just six days away — the Miami Dolphins announced some important roster news. They have signed wide receiver Chosen Anderson to the practice squad and cut defensive end Randy Charlton.

Additionally, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel named Mike White as the team’s backup quarterback.

White, 28, was selected with the No. 171 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft after four seasons of college football — two seasons as a member of the University of South Florida and two with Western Kentucky University. He threw for 1,000-plus yards in each of his four seasons of college football.

The 6-foot-5 quarterback has spent most of his time in the NFL as a member of the New York Jets franchise. He is fresh off a 2022 season in which he completed 58.9 percent of his passes. White also threw for 1,192 yards and three touchdowns in four games with the Jets during the regular season (all starts).

Furthermore, White’s longest completion was for a whopping 60 yards.

Meanwhile, Anderson, 30, joined the NFL in the 2016 season after two seasons playing college football at Temple University. He has played for three teams — the Carolina Panthers, Jets and Arizona Cardinals — across his seven seasons in the NFL.

Anderson finished with 282 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown in 16 games with the Panthers and Cardinals during the 2022 regular season (seven starts).

The best season of Anderson’s career came during the 2020 season, when he was a member of the Panthers. The 6-foot-3 wide receiver racked up 1,096 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns. He also averaged 11.5 yards per reception in 16 games played with the Panthers during the regular season (all starts).

Here’s to hoping that both Anderson and White will be valuable contributors for the Dolphins during the 2023 regular season. If they can stay healthy, they can help make the Dolphins offense even more potent than it was a season ago.

Miami’s regular season begins with a road game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
