Miami Dolphins insider provides positive update on Robert Jones’ leg injury

The Miami Dolphins’ preseason rout over the Houston Texans on Saturday was dampened a bit by the sight of offensive guard Robert Jones walking gingerly off the field after sustaining a leg injury in the second quarter of the match.

Thankfully, the organization has received a piece of good news, as the injury is reportedly “not feared to be very serious.”

Jones, who is expected to contend for a starting spot this season, is entering in his third year in the NFL. He went undrafted in 2021 after playing college football for Middle Tennessee State University. The Illinois native signed with the Dolphins after the draft and eventually secured his spot on the squad, making the final roster for the 2021 season following cuts.

In his rookie campaign, he appeared in just eight contests, starting one of them. But he continued to show marked improvement in his game, as he played 16 matches in his second year in the NFL, making the starting lineup in seven of them. He also got the starting nod in Miami’s lone playoff game last season.

It remains to be seen if he can become a full-time starter. However, the injury might set him back a bit.

The 24-year-old wasn’t the only Dolphins player to get bit by the injury bug on Saturday. Promising rookie De’Von Achane also had to leave the bout early, as he was carted off the field after injuring his shoulder in the third quarter. The team has yet to announce an update on the 21-year-old’s condition.

There are some concerns among fans about Miami’s offensive group due to injuries. Terron Armstead had to sit out the Texans game after injuring his right leg on Thursday during a joint practice with Houston.

Fortunately, all signs have pointed to good news for the star offensive tackle. Teammate Tyreek Hill even managed to joke a bit about the four-time Pro Bowler to provide a hilarious update on his status.

The start of the regular season is only a few weeks away. Hopefully, the Dolphins won’t have to deal with any more injuries by then. They need all the help they can get on both offense and defense in order to become title contenders.
