Tyreek Hill defends Eric Bieniemy amid complaints from Commanders players about his coaching style

Very few NFL players are more familiar with the coaching style of Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy than Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

Bieniemy was Hill’s offensive coordinator for several years on the Kansas City Chiefs, and together, they helped create an extremely explosive offense.

The upcoming season will be Bieniemy’s first with the Commanders. Unfortunately, some of Washington’s players have found his style to be too harsh so far.

After catching wind of that, Hill defended his old offensive coordinator on social media, explaining that it’s all tough love from Bieniemy.

Hill took his game to new heights in Bieniemy’s first season as Kansas City’s offensive coordinator. Bieniemy was promoted to the position ahead of the 2018 season, which opened the door for Hill to post 1,479 receiving yards and 12 receiving touchdowns across 16 games.

That arguably stood as the seven-time Pro Bowler’s best season until the 2022 campaign, when the Dolphins helped him explode for 1,710 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns over 17 games.

Hill and Bieniemy helped the Chiefs reach the promised land in the 2019 season, as they used their electric offense to win Super Bowl LIV over the San Fransisco 49ers.

The hope in Washington is certainly that Bieniemy and his players can build some chemistry in time for the 2023 season. Culture is an important key to success in the sports world, and it would benefit the Commanders in a big way for them to have their offensive staff on the same page as their offensive players.

Culture doesn’t seem to be a concern in Miami, where Mike McDaniel has created a positive and exciting environment for his guys to play in. Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa seems to love playing for his coach, which was evident last season when he put together the best campaign of his career so far.

Expectations are high for the Dolphins going into the 2023 season, but all signs point toward them being able to meet the hype. Hill knows what it’s like to win a Super Bowl, and it’s a safe bet that there are tons of players in Miami’s locker room who are itching to experience the feeling.
