Tua Tagovailoa opens up on why he turned down being on Netflix’s ‘Quarterback’ series

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa revealed that he was approached to be in Netflix’s “Quarterback” series but declined because it would have revealed too much of his personal life.

Tagovailoa considers himself a private person and didn’t want to share that much of his personal and family life in the show.

The first season of “Quarterback” featured Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins and former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Marcus Mariota.

While it would have been cool to see an inside look on Tagovailoa’s season through the series, fans have to respect his wishes to keep his private life to himself. It’s always possible that he could change his mind about it in the future.

The Dolphins and Tagovailoa certainly are more focused on getting back to the playoffs in the 2023 season than any appearances on a show.

The 2022 season was a rollercoaster for Tagovailoa, who played his best football since he was drafted by the Dolphins with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. However, he also was sidelined on multiple occasions due to injuries.

Tagovailoa missed a few games in the 2022 season because of the two concussions he suffered. The first one came in Week 4 against the Cincinnati Bengals, and the second was in Week 16 against the Green Bay Packers.

The second concussion knocked the Dolphins quarterback out for the remainder of the season, and as a result, the team ended up having to start rookie quarterback Skylar Thompson in its playoff game against the Buffalo Bills.

Still, there are plenty of positives to take away from the 2022 season for Tagovailoa. He played the best football of his NFL career, throwing for 3,548 yards, 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 13 games during the regular season.

The addition of Tyreek Hill to Miami’s offense really helped Tagovailoa thrive in his first season under head coach Mike McDaniel.

Miami added another weapon on offense this offseason by drafting running back De’Von Achane, which should make things easier on Tagovailoa in the 2023 season.

As long as the former first-round pick stays healthy, the Dolphins should be right back in the playoff conversation this season.
