Major updates offered on key Miami Dolphins veterans ahead of training camp report date

Agent Drew Rosenhaus revealed that both offensive lineman Connor Williams and defensive lineman Zach Sieler will report to Miami Dolphins training camp on time.

This is a good sign for Miami as both players are looking for contract extensions since they are entering the final season of their deals in the 2023 campaign. They did miss some time during the team’s other offseason programs.

Williams, who signed a two-year deal with the Dolphins prior to the 2022 season, has a base salary of $6.5 million this season.

After spending the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys, Williams signed with the Dolphins in free agency and immediately became an impact player for the team.

He started all 17 games for the Dolphins in the 2022 season, and he’s expected to start at center in the 2023 season based on the team’s depth chart.

The Dolphins’ offensive line is an important part of the team’s success, especially since Miami needs to keep quarterback Tua Tagovailoa healthy. With Williams at least reporting to training camp, it’s a positive sign for him being in the lineup once the 2023 season kicks off.

As for Sieler, he has played for Miami since late in the 2019 season. He started a career-high 15 games in the 2022 campaign for the Dolphins, registering 3.5 sacks, 70 combined tackles and two forced fumbles.

For his career, Sieler has 10 sacks in 59 games (33 starts). He has a base salary of $2.5 million on his contract for the 2023 season.

A seventh-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Sieler has really made a name for himself in the NFL. Miami has some depth up front on the defensive line, but the team certainly wouldn’t want to lose a player that started nearly every game for it last season.

If the Dolphins can’t work out extensions for Williams and Sieler before the start of the 2023 season, it will be interesting to see how the two players proceed. For now, it appears that they are committed to working with their teammates to prepare for the season.

Both players will be unrestricted free agents next offseason if they can’t come to agreements on new deals with Miami.
