It looks like the Miami Dolphins have dodged a major bullet when it comes to one of their best players.
On Sunday, star wide receiver Tyreek Hill allegedly hit a man working at Haulover Marina. Although Hill was investigated by the Miami-Dade Police Department, he will not be facing any charges, at least as of now.
If the man Hill allegedly hit still wants to pursue charges, he will have to escalate the matter.
This is very good news for a Dolphins team that seems to be very optimistic about the upcoming NFL season.
After going 9-8 in the regular season and making the playoffs for just the third time in two decades, it has upgraded a defense that was very weak.
Miami swung a big trade this offseason for star cornerback Jalen Ramsey, a six-time Pro Bowler and three-time selection to the All-Pro First Team. Ramsey earned a Super Bowl ring with the Los Angeles Rams during the 2021 season and will bring that championship experience to a relatively young Fins squad.
Hill, who spent his first six seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and has a championship ring of his own, put up a career-high 1,710 yards last season. He teamed up with second-year man Jaylen Waddle to give Miami one of the league’s best wideout tandems.
Perhaps the biggest key to its fortunes in 2023 will be the health of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. He showed major improvement in 2022, but he suffered multiple concussions that had plenty of people encouraging him to call it quits for the sake of his own health.
The AFC, particularly the AFC East, will be very competitive this fall, but an argument could be made that the Dolphins have as much talent as their competitors there, especially if they end up landing four-time Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook.
