Jerome Baker seemingly vows to not let Miami Dolphins fans down this season

Miami Dolphins linebacker Jerome Baker has high expectations for his 2023 campaign.

The 26-year-old took to Twitter on Wednesday and seemingly issued an apology for last year, saying that he let fans down. This year, according to Baker, is going to be different.

Baker seemingly holds himself to a very high standard because his 2022 season certainly wasn’t bad by any stretch.

Per usual, he stayed healthy and was able to play in all 17 games during the regular season. Moreover, he racked up 100 combined tackles, six tackles for loss, seven quarterback hits and four sacks.

He also added four passes defended and a forced fumble for good measure.

The 2023 season will be Baker’s sixth at the NFL level after the Dolphins drafted him in the third round in 2018. Since joining the team, he has missed just one game, making him an extremely reliable part of Miami’s defense.

When looking at the Dolphins defense as a whole, there’s certainly room for growth. The unit allowed 23.5 points per game last season, which ranked 24th in the NFL.

Fortunately, Miami has made key offseason additions on that side of the ball, leading to some increased levels of optimism, especially when it comes to the team’s overall ceiling.

The Dolphins now have arguably their best roster in years, and they’ll look to take advantage of all their talent by finding some playoff success. Miami made the playoffs last season but took a quick exit at the hands of the Buffalo Bills.

It’s been over two decades since the last time the Dolphins won a playoff game. If the team plays its cards right, that drought has a good chance of coming to an end this season. Some folks have very high expectations for the squad, and there’s a lot of positive energy surrounding the team.

Miami’s 2023 season will begin in September with a game against the Los Angeles Chargers on the road. The Dolphins will look to open their season with a statement victory and remain consistent throughout the entire campaign, which has been a struggle in recent years.
