Report: There’s optimism that Miami Dolphins will host 2027 Super Bowl

In 2020, the Miami Dolphins played host to Super Bowl LIV, which the Kansas City Chiefs won over the San Francisco 49ers.

There is a chance that South Florida will once again have the privilege of hosting the event in 2027, according to Hal Habib of the Palm Beach Post.

“There’s optimism in Miami that despite a late challenge by Los Angeles, South Florida will land the Super Bowl in 2027, a league source told The Post on Friday,” wrote Habib.

The next two Super Bowl hosts have already been confirmed, with the Las Vegas Raiders taking it in 2024 and New Orleans Saints hosting the following year. As such, the 2026 Super Bowl is the next one that does not yet have a confirmed location. However, there has been buzz that the San Francisco 49ers will have hosting honors that year.

It remains to be seen if the Dolphins will be awarded the rights for 2027. But if that were to happen, it would mark the city’s 12th time hosting the event.

Some organizations have regularly vied to host the Super Bowl because the event’s economic impact has historically been enormous. It’s important to keep in mind that the NFL’s championship game is likely the most popular in U.S. sports. For instance, the 2023 Super Bowl drew an in-person attendance of more than 67,000 people and had a viewership of around 113 million.

Fans coming in droves spells good news for local businesses. For example, the 2023 Super Bowl was staged at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. Around that time, a couple of other big events were also held in the area, which allowed it to expect a gross economic impact of more than $1 billion.

Of course, that’s not the only way Miami can benefit from possibly hosting the match. If the Dolphins happened to host and reach the Super Bowl in the same year, they would have home-field advantage on their side.

With a promising roster and coaching staff, it’s not that far-fetched to picture Miami contending for championships in the years to come.
