Miami Dolphins announce full 2023 undrafted free agent class

The Miami Dolphins recently announced their entire class of undrafted free agents ahead of the 2023 season.

Miami signed 21 different players to compete for spots on the team’s roster this upcoming season.

The team added players on both sides of the ball that it believes can make impacts, and since Miami had limited draft capital in the 2023 NFL Draft, it makes sense that it added so many players that didn’t hear their names called during the draft process.

Obviously, it’s highly unlikely that all 21 of these players make the Dolphins’ final roster, but there could be a few gems that the team finds that help it compete for a playoff spot in the 2023 season.

Miami made the postseason in the 2022 campaign, but it lost to the Buffalo Bills in the first round. The team was forced to play third-string quarterback Skylar Thompson in that game because of injuries to Tua Tagovailoa and Teddy Bridgewater.

The Dolphins already signed quarterback Mike White in free agency to back up Tagovailoa, but they also added another quarterback in James Blackman.

Blackman played collegiately at Florida State University and Arkansas State University. He spent the past two seasons at Arkansas State, throwing for 22 touchdowns and just seven interceptions.

The Dolphins also brought in players such as Jarrett Horst, Alex Jensen, D.J. Scaife, James Tunstall and Alama Uluave to compete on the offensive line, an area where Miami would like to improve.

Given the head injuries Tagovailoa suffered last season, the Dolphins want to give him the best protection possible in the 2023 season.

The AFC East is going to be a tough division in 2023, with Aaron Rodgers joining the New York Jets in a trade prior to the draft. While Miami finished second in the division last season, there is no guarantee that the team will be able to match that success this season.

As the team’s offseason activities unfold, it will be interesting to see which undrafted free agent signings make the most of their opportunities and increase their chances of making the team this coming season.
