With the 2023 NFL Draft less than a week away, teams around the league are certainly starting to get a feel for who they’re going to target when they’re on the clock.

The Miami Dolphins have just four picks in this year’s draft and don’t have a selection until the second round, but they’re surely going to make the most of their opportunities when they’re picking.

According to NFL insider Tanner Phifer, the Dolphins have reached out to a couple of defensive back prospects as part of the organization’s predraft process.

It seems like Ty Okada and Jaquan Amos are on Miami’s radar.

Okada put together some big seasons at Montana State University.

In the 2021 season, he had two interceptions, eight passes defended, a forced fumble and 78 total tackles in 14 games. In the 2022 season, he had one interception, 10 passes defended, two fumble recoveries and 73 total tackles, adding three sacks for good measure. He once again appeared in 14 games.

The Minnesota native also had six tackles for loss in each of those two seasons, giving him 12 across the two years combined. He played four seasons at the school, but his last two were certainly his most impressive.

Although Montana State competes in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), which is a step below the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), the FCS has produced plenty of talented players over the years, and Okada could be one of the next.

Amos, meanwhile, bounced around during his collegiate career and also spent some time at the FCS level. He ultimately made a name for himself at Ball State University, an FBS school.

During the 2022 season, he had one interception and five passes defended across 12 games. He also racked up 95 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks.

Amos will look to use his size and speed to his advantage at the next level.

The Dolphins are clearly doing their homework ahead of the draft, and it’ll be interesting to see if either of these two players end up landing with the organization. No matter who the Dolphins pick up in the draft later this month, fans will surely welcome them with open arms.
