With Lamar Jackson’s future in limbo for the Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins newcomer DeShon Elliott may want the quarterback to end up in South Florida.
He campaigned for Jackson to come to the Dolphins in a since-deleted tweet on Monday.
Some Dolphins fans didn’t seem too happy in the replies, so Elliott sent out a new tweet to clarity his initial comments.
Jackson is currently making headlines after he revealed Monday that he requested a traded from the Ravens earlier this month.
On the surface, Elliott’s public pitch to Jackson may come off as a bit of a shock, especially since the Dolphins have expressed tons of confidence in quarterback Tua Tagovailoa moving forward. However, it’s worth noting that Elliott and Jackson were teammates from the 2018 season through the 2021 campaign, so the new Dolphins safety could just be missing his old friend.
Tagovailoa will look to take another step forward in the 2023 season after making lots of progress in the 2022 campaign. Concerns about his health will be surely get lots of attention throughout the upcoming season, but if he can stay healthy and produce like he did during his 13 appearances this past season, Dolphins fans are going to be happy campers.
As for Jackson, his future is a mystery. The star quarterback will certainly have a home by the time the 2023 season arrives, but it’s anyone’s guess where that will be. He could return to the Ravens, land with one of the teams that he’s been linked to or perhaps end up with a squad that isn’t even on anyone’s radar yet.
The Dolphins will face the Ravens once in the 2023 regular season, and that game will come on the road. If Jackson is no longer in Baltimore at that point, Miami will find itself facing a new-look Ravens team.
As for Elliott, he’s hoping to have a strong debut season with the Dolphins. The 2023 season will be his fifth at the NFL level after he was drafted in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
Hopefully his recent comments about Jackson don’t create any awkward situations in the locker room with Tagovailoa.
