Braxton Berrios says he’s been very impressed by ‘absolute warrior’ Tua Tagovailoa

The Miami Dolphins passing attack figures to be a strength once again in the 2023 NFL season thanks to Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle and Tua Tagovailoa, and newcomer Braxton Berrios is likely to benefit from single coverage all season long.

Berrios, who joined the Dolphins after playing with the New York Jets last season, recently spoke about his new quarterback and mentioned that Tagovailoa is an “absolute warrior.”

Tagovailoa definitely proved his toughness and love for the game last season when he put in a career year despite suffering two confirmed concussions.

The concussions definitely weighed heavy on the minds of everyone in the Dolphins community. Not only did the entire fan base want to see Tagovailoa play, but it also understandably was worried about the young passer’s future.

Suffering two concussions in one season is a cause for concern for any player, and while a top neurological doctor recently stated that he does not believe Tagovailoa is at greater risk of future head injuries with proper rest, it will surely be something that the entire NFL community keeps an eye on.

If the University of Alabama product can stay healthy in the upcoming season, it seems likely that he will take yet another leap forward in his progression. Tagovailoa had a career year in 2022 (despite playing in just 13 games) and proved that he has what it takes to be a franchise signal-caller.

Of course, Hill and Waddle both played huge roles in that ascension, and the two receivers both put in career-high numbers in some key statistics.

As for Berriors, he had a so-so campaign, recording just 18 receptions for 145 yards and zero scores. However, he did record two rushing touchdowns.

With that in mind, it is quite possible that he’ll get a chance to start in the slot for the Dolphins in 2023. If that ends up being the case, it would not be a surprise if he were to enjoy career numbers as well.

After all, opposing defenses will have their hands full just trying to contain Hill and Waddle. If Berrios can take advantage of single coverage on the inside, there is no doubt that Tagovailoa will be able to get him the ball.

That’s all months away, however. Until the Dolphins get back on the field, fans will just have to be as patient as possible and wait to find out what happens in the next chapter of this storied franchise.
