Report: ‘Keep an eye on Miami’ if Tom Brady decides to return to NFL

The Miami Dolphins reportedly are a team to “keep an eye on” if Tom Brady decides to return to the NFL in the 2023 season.

Rich Eisen reported that the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New England Patriots quarterback may not be done playing.

The Dolphins reportedly are worried about quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s long-term health, and they have been linked to Brady in the past.

While the legendary quarterback retired this offseason, he showed last offseason that he’s willing to come out of retirement to continue his playing career.

The 2022 season wasn’t the best of Brady’s career. He and the Buccaneers went just 8-9 in the regular season in the 2022 campaign, but it was enough to win the NFC South division. The team was promptly dismissed from the playoffs by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round.

Despite that, Miami could offer Brady one of the best young receiving groups in the NFL with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion certainly showed he could still play last season, throwing for 25 touchdowns in the 2022 season while leading the league in completions. Those numbers are very similar to what Tagovailoa put up for the Dolphins, but Brady’s career resume is much stronger than that of the Dolphins quarterback.

Tagovailoa had a solid season in the 2022 campaign, as he threw for 3,548 yards, 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 13 games during the regular season. However, he suffered two concussions that kept him out of multiple games and have raised concerns about his ability to play football for the long haul without permanently injuring his brain.

Brady led the Bucs to a title in the 2020 season, and if the Dolphins believe he has something left in the tank, they could be an option for him if he decides to unretire.

A fierce competitor, Brady had trouble stepping away from the game after the 2021 season and decided to return to Tampa Bay after a short retirement. Eisen’s reporting makes it seem like a similar situation is happening this offseason.

The Dolphins were solid last season under first-year head coach Mike McDaniel, making the playoffs despite Tagovailoa missing time. While Brady isn’t the same player he used to be, it’s hard not to fantasize about him leading the Dolphins to a Super Bowl if he came to Miami.
