Tua Tagovailoa’s mom sends heartwarming message to her son after Miami Dolphins season comes to end

Diane Tagovailoa, the mother of Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, shared a message of love and support for her son following the conclusion of the Dolphins’ 2022 season.

Miami was knocked out of the playoffs in the first round, losing to the Buffalo Bills last weekend. The team wasn’t able to start the younger Tagovailoa, as he was sidelined due to a concussion.

Instead, rookie quarterback Skylar Thompson got the nod for Miami in the game. While Thompson was able to keep the Dolphins close, the team ultimately fell short in Buffalo.

The 2022 season was full of ups and downs for the younger Tagovailoa, but he did post his best statistical season in the NFL.

The third-year passer threw for 3,548 yards, 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 13 games during the regular season. He also led the NFL in yards gained per pass attempt and yards gained per pass completion, taking advantage of the addition of Tyreek Hill to the team’s receiver room.

Despite the promising numbers, the University of Alabama product’s season still raised some major concerns, even if they were out of his control. The younger Tagovailoa suffered two confirmed concussions in the 2022 season, one in Week 4 against the Cincinnati Bengals and another in Week 16 against the Green Bay Packers.

The second concussion caused him to miss Miami’s final two games of the regular season and the playoff game against Buffalo. Hopefully, the former No. 5 overall pick avoided any long-term damage due to the head injuries, but they certainly are a cause for concern going forward in his career.

It’s great to see that the Dolphins quarterback has a strong support system in his family, and Miami is hoping that the younger Tagovailoa will return in the 2023 season and still be able to play at a high level.

While the Dolphins only snuck into the playoffs as the No. 7 seed this season, there were still a lot of positives to take away from the campaign, the team’s first under head coach Mike McDaniel.

The younger Tagovailoa certainly showcased his potential as a franchise quarterback, and the Dolphins had an explosive offense with Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

The Dolphins will look to build off the success of the 2022 campaign next season.
