Tom Brady ‘still not over’ the Miami Miracle

Current Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback and former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady revealed that he still isn’t over the Miami Miracle that the Miami Dolphins pulled off to beat the Patriots back in the 2018 season.

The NFL shared the play ahead of the Dolphins’ Week 17 matchup with the Patriots this season, and Brady couldn’t help but give his thoughts in the comments.

The loss was a brutal one for Brady and the Patriots, as the team led by five points, 33-28, after Stephen Gostkowski made a 22-yard field goal with 16 seconds remaining in the game.

However, the Dolphins made a major lateral play, with Ryan Tannehill starting it by delivering a strike to wide receiver Kenny Stills.

Stills lateraled the ball to another receiver in DeVante Parker, who ended up lateraling the ball to running back Kenyan Drake.

Drake weaved through the defense, eventually running past Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, who was in the play to catch a potentially Hail Mary attempt. The Dolphins’ won the game 34-33 as a result.

The shocking part about that play, is that all four players who had the ball (Tannehill, Stills, Parker and Drake) are no longer with the team. In fact, Parker is with the Patriots after being traded by the Dolphins this past offseason.

Both the Dolphins and the Pats are looking to make a push for a playoff spot in the AFC in Week 17, but the Dolphins are in a slightly better spot with an 8-7 record. The Patriots, who have lost back-to-back games, enter this game at 7-8 on the season.

Miami won’t have quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in this game after he was diagnosed with a concussion following the team’s Week 16 loss to the Green Bay Packers. The loss was Miami’s fourth straight.

Teddy Bridgewater will get the start for the Dolphins in Week 17 against New England.

While Brady is no longer with the Patriots, he clearly feels the sting from the loss in 2018. The legendary quarterback is in the middle of a tough season with the Bucs, who are just 7-8, but the team does hold the lead in the NFC South division.

The Dolphins could end up facing Brady in the playoffs, if both teams make the Super Bowl. While that is unlikely at the moment, it still could happen. If it does, the Dolphins would certainly hope they wouldn’t have to rely on another miracle to win that game.
