Dallas Cowboys insider wonders if Odell Beckham Jr. wants ‘Michael Gallup money or Tyreek Hill money’

Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill is the highest-paid wide receiver in the league this season. A Dallas Cowboys insider recently offered a question regarding whether or not Odell Beckham Jr. will seek a contract similar to Hill’s when deciding which franchise to join.

At present, the 30-year-old has been heavily linked to the Cowboys. It seems that Dallas could be willing to offer Beckham a multiyear contract if the numbers are “reasonable.”

Still, the length and value of a potential contract that would be offered is apparently up in the air. But it’s safe to say that if the three-time Pro Bowler asked for a salary comparable to that of Hill, whose average salary per year is $30 million, then the Cowboys would surely hesitate to push through with signing Beckham.

As for the other receiver mentioned, Michael Gallup, he makes an average of $11.5 million per year on his current deal.

If the free agent can replicate Hill’s production, then bringing him on board for a huge amount of money could be worth it. However, that is a tall order given how well the Dolphins receiver has been playing this season.

The six-time Pro Bowler has had a superb 2022 campaign so far. Through the first 11 games of the season, he has caught 87 passes for 1,233 yards and four touchdowns. He is also on pace to break a few franchise and league records thanks to a string of stellar performances.

Hill has also been instrumental to Miami’s rise in the standings. The squad is currently leading the AFC East with an 8-3 record. With the way they are playing now, the Dolphins have a good chance to finally make it back to the postseason after a lengthy absence since 2016.

As for the Cowboys, they also sport a 8-3 record, but they have a more difficult path to the division title as they are well behind the NFC East-leading Philadelphia Eagles. They could certainly use a boost in their receiver corps, hence the interest in bringing in Beckham.

It will be interesting to watch where the veteran, who last played for the Los Angeles Rams, ends up. Fortunately for Miami, its wide receiver rotation is already set, so it does not need to enter the Beckham sweepstakes.
