Miami Dolphins flex after Tyreek Hill becomes first receiver in NFL this season to pass impressive mark

Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill has been displaying this campaign that he is one of the best wide receivers in the league. On Sunday, he again showed why by becoming the first player in the 2022 season to reach 1,000 receiving yards.

The feat was not lost on the organization, as the team’s official Twitter page celebrated Hill’s achievement. It also emphasized that the 28-year-old crossed the threshold in Week 9.

Miami is certainly fortunate to have landed the star in the past offseason. When the Kansas City Chiefs traded Hill to the Dolphins, there were concerns on whether or not he could continue his strong performance without an established quarterback like Patrick Mahomes. As it turns out, those concerns were unfounded.

Hopefully, the six-time Pro Bowler can maintain his pace and carry on with helping the Dolphins win games this season. Prior to the Sunday contest, Hill had caught 69 passes for 961 yards and two touchdowns.

Currently, the franchise holds a 5-3 record and is in third place in the AFC East. With plenty of football to be played, Miami can still catch up to the Buffalo Bills for the No. 1 spot in the division before the season ends.

It could have a better record if starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa didn’t miss two games earlier in the campaign. An argument can even be made that the Dolphins would have been holding a perfect record now if it weren’t for Tagovailoa’s absences.

Two of the team’s losses came when the 24-year-old sat out Miami’s Week 5 and Week 6 contests. On the other hand, its first loss came in Week 4, when Tagovailoa had to exit the game before halftime versus the Cincinnati Bengals.

But, the Dolphins are likely not dwelling on the past and keeping focused on their remaining matches. They are currently battling the Chicago Bears and on pace to get their sixth win.

After the Bears tiff, Miami will head home for a two-game home stand versus the visiting Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans. Fans are hoping that the team can extend its winning streak so that it can catch up to the Bills in the standings.
