Report: Teddy Bridgewater to return to Miami Dolphins practice

The Miami Dolphins are in a sticky situation. After starting the 2022 season 3-0, they have dropped two straight games.

They also have their top two quarterbacks, Tua Tagovailoa and Teddy Bridgewater, in concussion protocol right now. Rookie Skylar Thompson, who is the team’s third-string passer, is set to start on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.

It was reported yesterday that Tagovailoa returned to practice, and Bridgewater appears to be on the same path.

It’s definitely great news, as Miami really needs to start securing some wins again. It has lost a bit of ground in the AFC standings, though it currently still holds a playoff spot.

Bridgewater was hurt in last Sunday’s loss against the New York Jets after the team’s first play from scrimmage.

Due to the new concussion protocol the league has implemented, he was not allowed to return to the game despite passing all of the concussions tests.

Thompson entered in his place and wasn’t able to do much in his first taste of regular season action. The 25-year-old completed 19 passes for 166 yards and one interception. He kept the Dolphins in the game, and Miami even had a chance to take the lead early in the fourth quarter, but kicker Jason Sanders missed a long field goal.

Despite the loss, Thompson had some pretty nice plays that left many fans feeling pretty good. Dolphins fans are hoping that he can lead the team to victory against the Vikings.

As for who will back Thompson up on Sunday, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel recently said that if Bridgewater clears concussion protocol by the end of the week, he will be behind Thompson.

While it’s great to have multiple capable quarterbacks, McDaniel and the rest of the Dolphins organization are hoping that Tagovailoa can return soon.

After taking on the Vikings, Miami will face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears and Cleveland Browns. The Dolphins will have their bye week in Week 11, and they’re surely hopeful that they’ll have a nice winning record when that comes around.
