The Miami Dolphins have had a busy Monday, releasing multiple players as they seek to cut down their roster ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.
Teams must cut their rosters down to 53 players by 4 p.m. EST on Tuesday.
On Saturday night, the Dolphins closed out a 2-1 preseason campaign with a 48-10 rout of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Gerrid Doaks had hoped to parlay a solid game against the Eagles into a reserve role. In that contest, he led the Dolphins with 67 rushing yards on 11 carries.
Players such as Chase Edmonds, Myles Gaskin, Sony Michel and Raheem Mostert left little room for the 2021 seventh-round selection.
Mohamed Sanu arrived to the Dolphins’ training camp with a decade of NFL experience at wide receiver. With 435 receptions and 27 touchdown catches to his credit over the course of his career, he was seen as potential veteran asset.
Most of Sanu’s NFL grabs have come as a member of the Cincinnati Bengals and Atlanta Falcons. He was hoping to jump-start a career that saw him play with the San Francisco 49ers last season.
Adam Pankey was picked up by the Dolphins in 2019 after spending his first two seasons with the Green Bay Packers. His versatility helped him stay with the Dolphins.
As noted, Pankey could find himself on the Dolphins’ practice squad given his adaptability on the offensive line and the inevitable injuries that will crop up during the 2022 season.
Linebacker Calvin Munson first arrived in the NFL in 2017 as an undrafted free agent with the New York Giants. Munson eventually was signed by the Dolphins in December 2019. He later spent some time with the New England Patriots before returning to South Florida.
Blaise Andries signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent following the 2022 NFL Draft. He played collegiately at the University of Minnesota.
Moving on to the regular Season
When the roster cutdown is complete, the Dolphins will begin to focus on their opening game at home against the Patriots on Sept. 11. Their first road clash is one week later, and they will go up against the Baltimore Ravens.
