Although the 2022 NFL regular season is almost here, the Miami Dolphins aren’t done making moves just yet.

According to a report, the team has reached an agreement with Trey Flowers.

Flowers has seven seasons of NFL experience under his belt. He was scooped up by the New England Patriots in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

The 29-year-old spent his first four NFL seasons with New England. There, he appeared in 46 regular season games and got 37 starts.

During that time, he was able to rack up 21 sacks, 100 solo tackles, 64 assists on tackles, 25 tackles for loss and 59 quarterback hits. He also totaled six passes defended, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries during that four-year stint.

In the 2016 and 2018 seasons, he helped the Patriots win Super Bowl titles.

Flowers then had a three-year stint with the Detroit Lions. During that stretch, he appeared in 29 regular season games and made 27 starts. He accumulated 10.5 sacks, 60 solo tackles, 37 assists on tackles, 12 tackles for loss and 27 quarterback hits.

He once again made an impact from a turnover perspective, as he forced five fumbles and recovered two during his time with Detroit.

One useful way to evaluate Flowers’ production so far at the NFL level is by looking at his averages per 17 games, as that provides some clarity as to what can be expected of him over the course of a 17-game season.

For his career, he averages seven sacks, 36 solo tackles, 23 assists on tackles, eight tackles for loss, 19 quarterback hits, two passes defended, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery per 17 games.

With the Dolphins, he’ll look to come in and make an impact on a squad that has some big goals this season. Miami is hoping to earn a playoff bid and make a deep run in the postseason.

Flowers already has two Super Bowl titles under his belt, and he’d surely love nothing more than to earn another one. Time will tell if he can do so with the Dolphins in the 2022 season.
