Earlier this week, the Miami Dolphins swapped 2023 draft picks in a trade that also sent tight end Adam Shaheen to the Houston Texans.
Now, it looks like that trade will not go through due to a failed physical.
The Dolphins have a glut of tight ends currently on the roster, and it stands to reason that Mike Gesicki and Durham Smythe will be the first two on the field.
Currently, Hunter Long and Cethan Carter are next in line.
Last season, Shaheen played in 12 games and finished the year with 12 receptions for 110 yards and zero touchdowns.
It’s a bit of a blow for the Dolphins to get this trade waived. Along with Shaheen, the Dolphins were going to send a future seventh-round pick to the Texans in exchange for a future sixth-round pick.
Now, the Dolphins will have to go back to the drawing board to see if there are other ways that they can move up in next year’s draft.
