Miami Dolphins veteran Byron Jones underwent surgery this offseason, and the team has now decided to place him on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.
It seems like Jones still has not fully recovered from his offseason surgery. Miami will surely wait until he is fully recovered before removing him from the list.
Jones signed with the Dolphins back in March of 2020 and has spent the past two seasons with the team. With the Dolphins, he has recorded 95 combined tackles, 14 passes defended, two interceptions and two forced fumbles.
The former first-round pick has taken a bit of a step back over the past couple of seasons and been overshadowed by the constant stellar play of Xavien Howard.
Jones and Howard make up a formidable duo, but more times than not, Howard is the one taking home accolades and appearing in headlines.
A few months ago, Miami restructured Jones’ contract, creating over $10 million in cap space in the process.
Miami is hoping to make it to the playoffs during the upcoming 2022 season. It hasn’t made it there since the 2016 season.
Head coach Mike McDaniel was hired to replace Brian Flores, who went 24-25 during his three years with the organization.
During his little time in South Florida, McDaniel has seemingly transformed the Dolphins’ culture. Having some good camaraderie in the locker room is going to be important for Miami this season.
With players like Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle and Terron Armstead on the roster, expectations are the highest that they’ve been in a while for the Dolphins.
