River Cracraft on ‘supergenius’ Mike McDaniel: ‘He’s smarter than everyone else’

When the Miami Dolphins decided to hire Mike McDaniel to become the team’s new head coach, many made the prediction that the team’s offense would see a big boost.

The reason for that is because McDaniel is seen as something of an offensive guru despite his relatively short career in the NFL thus far.

While McDaniel’s abilities as a head coach won’t be on full display for another couple months, one Dolphins newcomer is already convinced.

Wide receiver River Cracraft recently spoke with members of the press in South Florida and had some glowing words for McDaniel, referring to him as a “supergenius.”

Cracraft has been in the NFL since the 2018 season, but he is not much of a household name. In fact, he has only logged receptions in two seasons of his career. He had one reception for 44 yards in the 2018 season and six receptions for 41 yards in the 2020 campaign.

Still, his time in the NFL has surely exposed him to a lot of coaches. He was coached by McDaniel last season when McDaniel was the offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers.

This season, McDaniel will be tasked with utilizing the potential that exists on the Dolphins roster to try to get the team over the hump and into the playoffs.

As Dolphins fans know, the success of the season will largely hinge upon quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s progression. The Dolphins swung big in the offseason by trading for Tyreek Hill to give Tagovailoa a premier target. Now, it will be up to McDaniel to create an offense built around the quarterback’s strengths.

If he can do that, the Dolphins will likely have a very exciting season.
