Report: Calvin Jackson Jr. has invite to try out for Miami Dolphins

Though the 2022 NFL Draft is well in the books at this point, rookie players that did not get their names called during the annual event are still looking for an NFL home.

One such player is former Washington State University receiver Calvin Jackson Jr.

Jackson is reportedly trying out for the Miami Dolphins next week. He’s also trying out for the New York Jets this weekend.

Jackson had a fantastic final season with the Cougars in which he recorded 66 receptions for 987 yards and seven touchdowns. Still, his name was not called during the draft.

Now, he will look to make good on the opportunities that he is getting from the teams that are bringing him in for a tryout.

For Dolphins fans, Jackson should be somewhat familiar. That is because his father played for the Dolphins in their defensive backfield in the 1990s.

His father was a local star in South Florida and played at Dillard High School before going on to play at Auburn University. Though he went undrafted in 1994, he was signed by the Dolphins. He went on to start in 57 games for the Dolphins.

Tragically, Jackson’s father passed away in 2021 at the young age of 48 after battling an illness.

Now, Jackson will look to continue his family’s legacy in South Florida. While his history with the Dolphins may have helped him get through the door and secure a tryout, he’s going to have to prove that he deserves more than just that with his actions on the field next week.
