Sean Payton claims to have ‘no clue’ about rumors linking him and Tom Brady to Miami Dolphins

Former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton recently spoke about some very interesting rumors that surfaced earlier this year.

There was chatter about the idea of Payton and legendary quarterback Tom Brady joining forces on the Miami Dolphins, something that obviously didn’t materialize. Payton recently addressed the rumors and claimed to have “no clue” about them.

“I have no clue about the Tampa Bay/Miami Dolphins/Tom Brady rumor,” Payton said. “I understand that there was a request put in where the intermediaries talked, and I’m like the rest of you. I heard that story. I’m getting ready to do TV.”

Payton added that his focus has always been on beating Brady as opposed to teaming up with him.

“I told you guys that already,” he said. “If I had been ready to coach this year, I would have stayed in New Orleans. It’s nice to have someone interested. That’s about it. Our focus on Tom Brady has been beating him, not joining him.”

A few months ago, Payton’s time with the Saints organization came to an end. The news came as a surprise to many fans around the NFL.

As for Brady, he briefly retired from football earlier this year before deciding to come back. The iconic quarterback will return in the 2022 season for another run with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Dolphins, meanwhile, are in the midst of an exciting time. Under new head coach Mike McDaniel, the team is hoping to make a serious run in 2022 and finally return to the postseason.

Given the amount of talent Miami has added this offseason, it certainly seems like the squad is going to have a legit chance to make some noise next season. Whether or not the team reaches its full potential will likely have a lot to do with the play of Tua Tagovailoa, who’s entering his third season in the NFL.

The Dolphins went 9-8 in the 2021 season after going 10-6 in the 2020 campaign.
