Xavien Howard says he’s hopeful to win Super Bowl and retire on Miami Dolphins

It is an exciting time for Miami Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard. Not only is he playing on a team that has lots of potential, but he is also now a very rich man.

After signing a new contract extension worth about $90 million, Howard expressed his gratitude.

“I’m just excited to be a Dolphin and continue to play here, hopefully retire here and hopefully win a Super Bowl, too,” Howard said.

Howard had another strong season in 2021, recording five interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown, two fumble recoveries and 50 tackles (39 solo). His output earned him his third trip to the Pro Bowl.

After just barely missing the playoffs in 2021 with a 9-8 record, the Dolphins have a lot to look forward to this coming season.

They have added not only speedster wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who was acquired from the Kansas City Chiefs, but also running back Raheem Mostert.

Hill will stretch the field and give quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who is entering his third season, a reliable threat who can help him develop further and increase his confidence.

“I feel like we’ll get each other better,” Howard said of Hill. “I played against him in college and also in the league, so I just want to focus on getting each other better.”

The rest of the AFC has also gotten much stronger, but the team feels confident it can return to the playoffs.

Last year, after getting off to a very poor start, Miami went on a seven-game winning streak late in the schedule, and overall it won eight of its last nine contests.
