The Miami Dolphins are reportedly in prime position to sign offensive tackle Terron Armstead, who has played all nine of his NFL seasons with the New Orleans Saints so far.
Armstead’s health is a concern to some, as injuries have limited his availability at certain points throughout his career. The hope is that he’ll be able to stay on the field as often as possible going forward.
During his NFL career, Armstead has been named to the Pro Bowl three times and certainly has the size to serve as one of Tua Tagovailoa’s chief protectors.
The Dolphins have been looking the bolster their offensive line, with the team’s signal-callers getting sacked 40 times last season. In Tagovailoa’s case, he was brought down on 20 of those sacks.
Armstead will turn 31 in July, though the Dolphins appear to see him as someone who still has enough ability to make an impact.
The Dolphins also figure to use next month’s draft to add additional talent on the offensive side of the ball. They currently have a total of eight picks in the 2022 draft and may use one of their early selections on another lineman.
If Armstead signs with the team, he’ll be joining another newcomer in head coach Mike McDaniel. The hope is that the new blood will change the frustration of the past two seasons, during which the Dolphins barely missed out on the playoffs both times.
