Report: Miami Dolphins agree to deals with Connor Williams and Preston Williams

Veteran wide receiver Preston Williams has reportedly agreed to a one-year deal to return to the Miami Dolphins for the 2022 season. Perhaps in even bigger news, the Dolphins have also agreed to a deal with offensive lineman Connor Williams.

Connor Williams has played for the Dallas Cowboys for his entire career thus far. He’s been a consistent starter since his rookie year. He played in 17 games last season, starting 14 of them. Without a doubt, he brings a level of talent to the offensive line that will help the team’s offense stay on the field.

Heading into the offseason, two major points of focus for the Dolphins were the offensive line and receiving corps. With Tuesday’s moves, it looks like the Dolphins are continuing to address such matters.

As for Preston Williams, he has spent his entire NFL career with the Dolphins, and he has had many ups and downs since entering the league in 2019.

Last season, he played in just eight games, starting three of those contests. He finished the year with a measly six receptions for 71 yards. Those numbers pale in comparison to the production of his rookie year in 2019, when he finished the campaign with 32 grabs for 428 yards and three touchdowns.

In the 2022 campaign, Preston Williams will surely look to stay healthy and improve upon the numbers he finished with last season.

Surely, one of new Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel’s top priorities this offseason is putting Tua Tagovailoa in a better position to succeed. He and his staff have done a good job of getting closer to that goal with Tuesday’s deals.
