The Miami Dolphins will be retaining several key members of their coaching staff under new head coach Mike McDaniel.
Linebackers coach Anthony Campanile and cornerbacks coach Charles Burks will be retained along with two other defensive coaches in Josh Boyer and Austin Clark.
In addition, McDaniel will be keeping Eric Studesville on the staff. He’ll play a key role in helping Miami’s rushing attack develop.
McDaniel, who is entering his first stint as a head coach, is clearly looking to keep key staffers around to help him and the Dolphins next season.
While Miami got off to a slow start in the 2021 campaign, the Dolphins won seven straight games and finished over .500. Tua Tagovailoa started to show some promise late in the season, so it makes sense that McDaniel wants to keep a key offensive voice like Studesville with the franchise.
The fate of the Dolphins’ 2022 season is likely going to hinge on how well McDaniel and his staff can develop Tagovailoa and the rest of the roster. The Dolphins have come close to making the playoffs in two straight seasons, but they ultimately came up short both times.
The Dolphins’ secondary has been really solid in recent seasons, so Burks is a huge coach to keep on the staff. Xavien Howard has developed into one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL in recent years.
It will be interesting to see how McDaniel fills out the rest of his staff as the Dolphins prepare for the 2022 season.
