Raekwon Davis discloses which Miami Dolphins defender has improved the most this season

Miami Dolphins defensive lineman Raekwon Davis revealed which player he believes has improved the most on Miami’s defense this season.

Davis highlighted a fellow defensive lineman in Christian Wilkins, who was a first-round pick of the Dolphins in the 2019 NFL Draft, as the most improved defender.

Wilkins has started all 16 games for the Dolphins so far this season and has posted career-highs in combined tackles (82), tackles for loss (nine), sacks (3.5), quarterback hits (12) and forced fumbles (one).

Prior to the 2021 season, Wilkins had recorded just 3.5 sacks in his first two seasons with the Dolphins. He appeared in 30 games over the 2019 and 2020 seasons, making 26 starts.

Davis has clearly noticed that Wilkins has become a more disruptive presence for Miami this season, and the Dolphins are hoping that the defensive lineman can carry the momentum from this season into the 2022 campaign.

After starting the 2021 season with a 1-7 record, Miami won seven straight games to put itself in contention for a playoff spot before losing to the Tennessee Titans in Week 17.

Now that the Dolphins are eliminated from postseason contention, they can now turn their focus to the future and figure out how to improve the roster.

Wilkins’ development is important for Miami moving forward, especially since the team invested such a high draft choice in the 26-year-old back in 2019.

Wilkins and Davis will look to add to their respective stat lines in Week 18 when the Dolphins take on the New England Patriots at home. Miami beat the Patriots in Week 1 of this season.
