Duke Johnson expresses strong desire to stay with Miami Dolphins: ‘It’s home’

Miami Dolphins running back Duke Johnson made it very clear on Thursday how he feels about his future.

The 28-year-old said that he would “love” to stay with the Dolphins going forward.

Johnson did say that he’s unsure of whether the Dolphins will offer him a contract. That part remains to be seen.

Johnson has appeared in four games for Miami this season. He has gotten 46 carries and racked up 213 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. He’s averaging 4.6 yards per attempt on the ground.

Through the air, Johnson has reeled in three receptions for 36 yards. He’s been targeted four times.

Johnson’s best game so far this season came in Week 15 against the New York Jets. In that matchup, he carried a big load, as he totaled 22 rushing attempts. He was able to rush for 107 yards and two scores.

It’ll be interesting to see what the future holds for the former third-round pick. The Dolphins are the third NFL team Johnson has played for since he was drafted by the Cleveland Browns back in 2015.

Miami will wrap up its current season against the New England Patriots this Sunday in Week 18. Unfortunately, there isn’t much on the line for the Dolphins.

However, the result of the contest will determine whether or not Miami finishes the season with a winning record. Doing so would be an impressive box to check for a squad that had a 1-7 record at one point earlier in the season.

The Dolphins will look to finish the campaign with a win and enter next season with a little bit of momentum.
