Report: Jacoby Brissett expected to start for Miami Dolphins vs. Baltimore Ravens

The Miami Dolphins are in for a tough test on Thursday, as they’re set to host the Baltimore Ravens.

Unfortunately for Miami, it sounds like quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is likely going to be unavailable. With that being the case, Jacoby Brissett is expected to get the start.

“I’ve been told the expectation is that Jacoby Brissett will be the starter for the Dolphins tonight, but they’re leaving open the door for Tua to surprise them a bit,” NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe said.

Tagovailoa was unable to start in the Dolphins’ victory against the Houston Texans this past weekend.

It’s a tough blow for the Dolphins if Tagovailoa is indeed unavailable. Of course, Miami would likely feel better about its chances if the second-year quarterback were to play.

Unfortunately, it sounds like that might not be in the cards. Another disappointing element of the situation is that the Dolphins are seemingly running out of opportunities to evaluate Tagovailoa before the season ends. His future with the organization still seems like somewhat of a mystery.

If it’s Brissett at the helm of the offense against Baltimore, he’ll hope to get his second win as a starter this season. So far in the 2021 campaign, the 28-year-old has completed 64.4 percent of his passes for 1,127 yards and five touchdowns. He has also thrown four interceptions.

The Dolphins are 2-7 on the season and aren’t likely to crack the playoffs. Still, the team has a chance to play spoiler and hand the Ravens an upset loss on Thursday.
