Miami Dolphins linebacker initiates recruiting pitch for Odell Beckham Jr.

Miami Dolphins linebacker Jerome Baker made his pitch for Odell Beckham Jr. to sign with the team after Beckham was released by the Cleveland Browns.

Beckham was released on Friday by the Browns after a tumultuous week that included the veteran wideout’s father criticizing Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Exactly what sort of sales pitch Baker would offer Beckham is unclear, though the Dolphins have had issues with injuries to their wide receiving corps this year.

Those injuries and other concerns have resulted in the Dolphins struggling to even win a game after dropping their last seven contests.

Beckham turns 29 on Friday, but any birthday celebrations may have to be put on hold as he seeks to find a new team.

Prior to being acquired by the Browns, Beckham had established himself as one of the most prominent wide receivers in the NFL.

After he was drafted in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the New York Giants, Beckham caught 390 passes and 44 touchdown passes for the team. His ability to make amazing one-handed catches helped him stand out, but the Giants eventually decided to move on from him.

In his first season with the Browns in 2019, Beckham grabbed 74 passes. However, a season-ending injury last year limited him to just seven games and 23 receptions.

While Beckham has 17 catches this season, he’s also had multiple drops that have proved costly to the Browns. Coupled with the off-the-field controversy, the Browns came to the conclusion to get rid of him.

There’s currently no indication that Dolphins head coach Brian Flores wants to sign him or whether other teams will offer a more enticing bid. Yet, Baker is ready to do his part to bring Beckham to Miami.
