Brian Flores gives worrisome update on DeVante Parker’s availability for Sunday’s game vs. Houston Texans

According to Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores, wide receiver DeVante Parker suffered a setback and is doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans.

Flores said that Parker’s hamstring setback is a “combination of soreness from the game and re-aggravated it in practice.”

It’s a frustrating development for Parker and the Dolphins, but given Miami’s position in the standings, there’s no need to risk further injury.

Parker played in Week 8 and racked up eight receptions for 85 yards. It was his first time seeing game action since Week 4, and he looked sharp. It’s unfortunate that he might not be able to go in Week 9.

For the season, Parker has 25 receptions for 327 yards and a touchdown over five games. This is his seventh season at the NFL level.

The Dolphins will hope to get a win over the lowly Texans despite Parker’s potential unavailability. It’ll be a battle of one-win teams when Miami and Houston clash.

The Dolphins’ playoff hopes seem dashed, but there’s still a lot on the line the rest of the way. One of those things is the play of Tua Tagovailoa, who might be fighting for his future with the organization.

If Parker isn’t available this Sunday, Tagovailoa will be down a weapon. He’ll have to look elsewhere for Parker’s production.

The Dolphins are 1-4 in games started by Tagovailoa this season, and the youngster is looking to put a number in the win column against Houston.

So far in the 2021 campaign, the former first-round pick has completed 65.6 percent of his passes for 1,040 yards and seven touchdowns. He has also thrown five interceptions.
