Report: Miami Dolphins could complete deal for Deshaun Watson this week

With the Miami Dolphins’ 2021 season already hanging in the balance, a new report indicates that the team may finally be ready to trade for embattled star quarterback Deshaun Watson.

“The Texans could finally be getting closer to trading quarterback Deshaun Watson to the Miami Dolphins — a team they play Nov. 7,” John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reported.

“Even though the NFL trading deadline isn’t until Nov. 2, a deal could go down this week, according to people familiar with the negotiations.

“If the Texans and Dolphins are unable to consummate the trade this week, they want to get it done by the league’s deadline.”

McClain added that the Dolphins “seem more determined to finally execute the Watson trade” after dropping last week’s game to the previously winless Jacksonville Jaguars.

Interestingly, that matchup also marked one of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s best games at the pro level.

Watson has yet to play a snap this season. He is currently at the center of some pretty disturbing sexual assault allegations. While his talent on the field cannot be denied, it would be interesting to see how Dolphins fans would respond to the team acquiring such a polarizing star.

In the days leading up to the trade deadline, it seems quite possible that an answer to that unknown will be revealed.
