Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is making progress as he looks to return from his rib injury.
The Dolphins have struggled since losing Tagovailoa, as they have dropped their past three games.
NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe revealed that the second-year quarterback is “chomping at the bits” to return.
“I’m told that he’s progressing well,” Wolfe said of Tagovailoa. “He’s starting to throw, and there’s optimism that if they continue along this path, then next Sunday versus the Jags (Jacksonville Jaguars), Tua can potentially return.
“This week, it will be Jacoby Brissett once again. Tua’s been chomping at the bits to come back and return for this team. He was eager to play after the fractured ribs as well, but the Dolphins were sort of saving him from himself by putting him on IR and letting those ribs fully heal.
“Tua may have to play the healer role when he comes back because this Dolphins team could fall to 1-4 with a loss against this Bucs (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) team.”
The Dolphins certainty would get a boost on offense if Tagovailoa returns in Week 6.
Miami will go on the road in Week 5 against the Buccaneers with kickoff set for 1 p.m. EST on Sunday.
