Miami Dolphins hoping to get DeVante Parker more involved in offense with earlier targets

Miami Dolphins co-offensive coordinator George Godsey made it clear on Tuesday that the team needs to do a better job of getting DeVante Parker more involved in the offense.

“Yeah, we all know we’ve got to get him the ball,” Godsey said of Parker. “He’s a productive player for us. If we can get him the ball early [it would help]. It doesn’t need to be every play, but him, Mike [Gesicki], get the backs involved, get all the other tight ends and receivers involved too, it will help the execution.”

At 1-3, the Dolphins need to pump some life into their 2021 campaign. If things don’t change soon, the team could be out of playoff contention much sooner than expected.

Parker has reeled in 17 catches for 242 yards so far this season. He registered his first touchdown of the season this past Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, but it came in a losing effort.

The former first-round pick is capable of being a massive pass-catching weapon. For instance, in the 2019 season, he racked up 72 receptions for 1,202 yards and nine touchdowns.

Parker would surely love to get back to those levels of production. If he does, perhaps the Dolphins’ lowly offense will start to move in the right direction.
